Places I Love: Buvette

While browsing design blogs this summer, I stumbled upon a designer and his most recent work. It was an identity for Buvette. Buvette is Chef Jody Williams' (and friend of Martha), 50-seat French-inspired gastroteque: a place where people meet for casual food and drink any time of day. I was immediately taken by the logo, the bicycle out front with the basket full of wine corks and the pop-up menu! I couldn't stand all of the cuteness. I had already planned a trip to NY and this little West Village gem was on my list.

I made my way around 11am, Sunday morning. It's very small, but cozy. I grabbed a stool right at the bar. One of the coolest things about Buvette is they cook everything right in front of you, at the bar. I watched my espresso being made down to my mouth watering crepes.

Jody was there, guiding and teaching the staff, and clearly the captain of this ship. It was fascinating. Certainly a reality show I'd tune in to. Jody (most recently noted as one of Out Magazine's 2012 most 100 influential people), was friendly and personable. I told her how I found her and how much I loved everything about Buvette before I had ever set foot in the door. Jody saw that I left with some extra coasters, menus and post cards. I loved her and Ilovebuvette.com
